Well just to make sure I had a FULL Harry Potter fix (Although, I'm going to reread it this week I think; few things I wanna make sure I understood!) I read this book... (written by the mighty mugglenet.com authors) I didn't want to read it before hand, I knew I would have to many weird ideas of what was going to happen in my head! It was a fun read after the book came out however...see what they got "dead on" and what they got completely wrong! ;) It was thought provoking for us Potterheads.
But in other news (I've been a monomaniac the last few days, Have I not?) I found the CUTEST scrapbook stuff ever. I almost died. I just had to share it with you! I can't wait to play with it and I want to buy ALL their stuff. It's the artist WEEDS & WILDFLOWERS over at scrapartist.com.
These were my favorite kits and I had to buy all four of them! (circle, star, alpha, flower)
OOoh I almost forgot... I have to tell my "girl in line-in front of me-at Walmart-story" I know, I know more Harry Potter talk (you can just skip this if you want, it so won't hurt my feelings :)!) Actually for "posterity sake" I might as well tell the whole dang story of the night and get it over with!
So I left work at 5:15 and cleaned the house! I wanted it to be nice and fresh and super clean so I wouldn't have any guilt about reading for the next 24 hours or however long it took. We put on the new Harry Potter CD and all pitched in for "Harry Potter Night at the Baxter's". It was a super stormy rainy evening which we thought was quite fitting! We went outside and saw this (again my sad camera did it no justice) Not only was it a FULL arched rainbow but a double rainbow to boot! I laughed and told Dave it was a good omen, a good sign... it meant that Harry and Ginny would live! (I won't tell you if I was right...)
Anyway...so Dave goes to Walmart at 7:45 (Oh my gosh! I almost forgot...maybe I should say he was RACING to Walmart at 7:45 because...well...he got pulled over by a cop! He was going 35 in a 25 can you believe it!??? rofl the speed limits here are ridiculous...he pleaded guilty and joked around with the officer, got off with a warning and ended up giving the guy a business card...cuz he needs to buy a house! lol only Dave. Only Dave. ANYWAY back to the regulary scheduled program!) because they way they are doing it is that at 8:00 they start handing out bracelets...red was going to be first (Gryfindor) and once you got a bracelet you could leave (so they didn't have HUGE crowd problems...which I'm sure was a general Walmart policy...not sure it was something they needed to worry to much about in Safford, hee hee) So anywho Dave gets a red bracelet and buys "Prisoner of Azkaban" because ours disappeared in the move. And comes home.
We fixed a nummy dinner of goooolosh (as we call it, homemade mac n cheese with hamburger in it). And then...it began to seriously storm! I was thinking "Oh the electricity better not go out on tonight of all nights!"
Anywho, we watched the movie, ate dinner and generally just sat around anxious for 11:30 to come (when we decided to go back to Walmart). Samantha was determined to go, even if she did keep dozing off. I personally wanted Dave to just go get it for me (I was seriously worried about hearing any kind of spoilers...like someone did with the last book in New York (it was all over the news) when some kids drove by all the Borders bookstores yelling out the window "_______ dies on page 584!!!") But alas, he wanted me to go with him, because well quite frankly, it was for me after all and he kept saying don't you want to have the midnight memory? So I went! And we got in line, it was chaos of course! They didn't line us up according to color so everyone was running around cutting in line etc... etc... The "old retailer" in me just can't stand that! But anywho that is not the point.
So anyway...finally it's our turn and I walk up to the lady and she hands me my book and of course by heart is racing! WOOHOO this is it! (Oh I forgot to mention that on my way to Walmart Amy text messaged me that she had her book, it made me miss her something fierce and brought back all the memories of us flying to New York two years earlier to get the last book a couple hours earlier...but that is another tale). Anywho I thought about Amy when I got my hands on my book and wondered how far she already was...I absently walked to a register where to my HORROR the girl in front of me opened her book and madly dashed to the last chapter (WHY the heck do people do that!!!!) and screamed to her friend "oh my gosh! oh my gosh!" I IMMEDIATELY stuck my fingers in my ears and started going LA LA LA LA LA (yes I'm 34 years old standing in Walmart doing that). We could hear the rain POURING down outside so Dave ran to get the car for me, gentleman that he is!
I got in the car and first thing I did was text Amy! I had to share with someone in the world that I was about to start the journey! I texted her that she just HAD to call me that minute if she could! ***RING*** RING*** I told her all about my LA LA LA in the middle of Walmart and also screamed in her ear (sorry about that again Aimes) when we drove through a HUGE puddle that nearly made us wreck.
So right when I get home what do I do? Take a picture of my book of course. (YES I did by some some Dr. Pepper...I know I know I'm not supposed to be drinking it anymore, but this was a special occasion... *trying to justify it in my mind lol* )
And then I sat down and I read and I read and I read. (Dave and Mantha went to bed) Then tried to "rest my eyes" for a minute (at 6:3O AMish) and woke up 3 hours later! I picked up right where I left off and finished! But I must admit that I don't think I FULLY enjoyed it the first time around because I was SO anxious about what would happen and how it would end...who would die... now that I know and have come to terms with it... "mourned" you might say... I want to read it again. I think I will be able to fully appreciate the humor woven in and understand better what is really happening at some key points. I guess I shouldn't say anymore here! No spoilers!
Samantha started the books, she says she thinks she's ready to try them again! She started reading them when she was younger and they scared her...but really everything scares her...she is too much like I was when I was younger...poor girl. But we'll see how she does! It will be cool for her to have the memories of being "there" for the last book I think! And Dave? Well he finished the 7th book already too, and way faster than I did! (We ordered a copy from Amazon that came on Saturday, becuase all along we had no idea what the plan would be at Walmart or if we could even get one in the middle of the night in Safford)
My only regret? That I didn't take more pictures! :0) And that my friends is the tale of our "Harry Potter Night"
Very entertaining Tang! ;o) Awesome storm and rainbow(s) to go with it on your exciting night! Now I just have to get caught up! oh and TOO funny about Dave getting pulled over LOL

I just found your site and read your harry Potter adventure. I just came downstairs from putting my 7 year old to bed and we just finished the first HP book tonight! I read it to him. He usually reads everything himself, but we decided this might be too scary so I read it to him and we both LOVED it! I'm sure there will be every other HP book on his shelf before long. A whole new generation of Harry fans.
