I bought this book almost two years ago and it has sat, gathering the all too common dust that collects on the shelves of my bookcases.
But inspired by an
online group of friends I have decided to do the right and proper thing and exert the energy to dust it off and
try it (my apologies Master Yoda...
DO it!). Although the official start date isn't until tomorrow, I began it last week while I was excited, motivated and looking for some change in my life.
And so I began the "morning pages" and whilst the book strictly prohibits sharing of the morning pages (you yourself aren't allowed to read them again for at least 8 weeks) I can tell you that I'm amazed by them already. The insight into your very own soul...not to mention the fact that I think I'd almost forgotten how to write for long periods of time with an actual pen.
I can also share with you about my "artist dates". Every week I must take myself out and spend 2 quality hours with myself delving into the world of creativity and all things that inspire me as a creative being.
The "preliminary" date we'll call it was last week (I'll start with #1 this week to stay at the same pace as the class) was spent with my creative soul at our local antique store. Two whole hours sitting on the floor searching through baskets of old ephemera, printers blocks and linen. heaven. Here are some of the treasures that came home with my creative soul and I.
That Dinah Shore album holder is going to make the most fabulous altered art book, that metal flower is going in her hair on the cover and some other bits and pieces I couldn't resist (look at those ballerinas they are divine)! The book is from 1912 and for $1 I just couldn't leave it behind.
I'm excited to begin this journey and so tomorrow starts week #1.
